Tirtha Koirala

A well-known figure in Nepal, Mr. Tirtha Koirala has been in journalism for more than three decades. Starting his career by reporting for weekly newspapers in early 1980’s, Mr. Koirala moved up to be the chief reporter of Kantipur (Nepal’s largest daily) and editor-in-chief of Nepal (Nepal’s largest newsmagazine published by the Kantipur group). He also has extensive experience working with radio and television. Some of the important positions he has held in the media industry include: news chief of Kantipur Television, chairman of Radio Sagarmatha (first community radio of South Asia), chairman of Nepal Television (Nepal’s first and largest television), president of Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ), advisor to Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), and advisor to Institute of Human Rights Communication Nepal (IHRICON). He has published more than hundred investigative reports in different newspapers & magazines, and has been awarded with dozens of national and international awards.
